Ethnographic Research Insights:
a. Users spend lots of time using electronic devices
b. People spend a lot of time NOT looking at the artwork
c. It is very easy to miss rooms and sections of the museum
The proposed solution reduces the time visitors engage with devices and supplemental materials.
The wireless platform tracks your location and collects the following data:
- Where the user has been
- Visitor paths
- How exactly visitors move, and how long they remain in certain areas
The information is provided for use in mobile devices, apps, and for use after the museum visit.
Besides basic navigation, facts and educational materials can be designed for later use.
The lessons learned:
- Technology can impede basic user experiences
- Users act different than they say
- Fly on the wall observations are useful
